It was an amazing trip to the east coast with my sister and brother-in-law. We had such a fantastic time. The trip, packed with sight-seeing of our nation’s capital. The trip to the beach and visiting family that I haven’t seen in years. I would be coming back! Step 1 – Decision made to get Kevin!
This was big grown up decision. I wasn’t one to go on a trip alone or venture out into the world. Oh, I am a brave soul at times but this was for me, an adventure that I would take alone. On one hand, I felt scared and stingy and on the other had I felt empowered. Questions needed to be answered though, how would I get there, how would I fund my trip, when would I go? In the meantime, Kevin was safe and sound with my niece and hanging out by the bay.
I wanted to make this trip as cost effective as possible. I needed to get him without taking money from my family. BAM an idea came to my mind like a busted dam. Sometimes my ideas are like that hahaha! I would have a yard sale. I needed to clean out my closets and I had already started making boxes of things that I didn’t need or want any longer. My family all gathered around and we had us a sale!
The day of the sale came. Even my super people (grandkids) helped. They had a drink stand with water and pops. They also downsized their toy boxes and had a table of toys. What a great experience for them. They kept the profits for the drink station and of course their toys. They paid me back for the pops. It was a day of lessons for them. They interacted with their customers, collected the money and learned to count change. I LOVED IT! I couldn’t have been more proud!
The sale ran for two days. I have few tips that I learned and do not’s that I learned. Hang around peeps I will share that in upcoming blogs.
I had decided to take the bus. I figured it would be an inexpensive way to go. I wasn’t on a tight time frame, after all, it was a walk about. I would see so much country, observe so many people. I was jazzed and ready to continue the planning stage.
Have you ever ridden a bus or driven half way across our beautiful country alone? Did ya LOVE it? What would you change?
